Rebeca and Jorge’s Ajijic wedding was the opposite of a big venue event. They had a civil ceremony on the shore of Lake Chapala, in Jalisco, surrounded only by their closest family and friends. Every detail was personal, and the whole day felt relaxed and full of joy.

A Lakeside Ceremony With DIY Details
The ceremony took place at a summer house by the lake that belongs to Jorge’s family. Having a private property gave them complete freedom. They decorated the garden themselves with handmade details and got married under the shade of the trees, with Lake Chapala as their backdrop.
Small, private ceremonies like this are a great example of how a non-traditional wedding can feel more meaningful than a large formal event.
Portraits in the Streets of Ajijic
After the ceremony we walked into the center of Ajijic for their portraits. The town is colorful and full of life, with murals, cobblestone streets, street food and small bars along the lake. Instead of avoiding the movement around us, we used it, so their photos feel like a real afternoon in town.
